White flowers have a small centre cluster surrounded by a ring of larger flowers. Dark green leaves with furrowed veins become reddish-purple in colour in the fall. The red-to-black fruit is a good food source for birds.

Viburnum is best grown in a medium, well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Prune soon after flowering so the next season's flower buds can form in summer.
